- 150 million pieces of lead jewelry from India available to children in vending machines have been recalled, and a process is in place to test for lead before importing products into the US.
- A large, multinational medical sterilization corporation changed a basic design feature in its equipment, so its users are no longer exposed to dangerous acid residue.
- Industry practice now requires studded tires in all four tire positions, instead of two on front wheel drive vehicles, to better protect drivers in snowy conditions.
- Bell, the maker of motorcycle helmets, changed its testing procedure when the old procedure was proven inadequate.
- As a result of a case of electrocution with an aluminum pruning pole, pruning poles must now be made of fiberglass.
